REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The slick spanned over approximately 5.67 nm long and approx. 5.24 nm wide. It had a strong contrast against the ocean background which made it distinguishable from natural phenomena/seeps. There were silver and white shimmer parts throughout the slick which indicated the presence of relatively thicker oil. Winds near the time of the image were coming from the E at 9 kt.


UNCERTAINTIES: The full extent of the slick was unknown due to false positives in the area. Sun glint was very present in the image which made it difficult to discern what was associated with the possible slick and what was overly emphasized due to the effects of sun glint. The white shimmer part west of the slick was the perfect example of this situation.
