DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: A fast moving wildfire started in the Pacific Palisades area started around 1800Z and was seen enveloping urban areas. The fire is creating a mostly moderate to thick smoke plume that is moving southwest off the coast into the Pacific. The Palisades Fire continues to grow, with the latest update showing an estimated 1,262 acreage burned as of 2030Z. South-Central/Southeastern United States... In the south-Central and southeastern United States moderate agricultural burning was detected creating numerous mostly light density smoke plumes in Georgia and Florida that were moving generally south this evening. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Southern Mexico was observed today along the Mexico’s Southern Pacific coast extending west into Pacific Ocean and in parts of the southwestern portion of the Gulf of Mexico near the Bay of Campeche. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
