DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z February 10, 2025
SMOKE: Southeastern United States... An area of light density remnant smoke attributed to seasonal agricultural burning was seen moving east from northern Florida and Georgia towards the Atlantic Coast before dispersing northeast over the Atlantic Ocean. No other areas of significant smoke were observed due to limited fire activity and widespread cloud cover across the HMS geographic domain. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Southern Texas... A large area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, industrial sources and volcanic emissions throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed this morning along the west coast of Mexico just south of the Baja Peninsula and into the Pacific Ocean near the southern tip of Mexico and northern Central America. This area of light density smoke and aerosols continued expanding east through Southern Mexico and into the southwestern portion of the Gulf of Mexico near the Bay of Campeche, then continued north towards southern Texas. Willkens THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
