DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0030Z April 10th, 2025
SMOKE... Texas/Alabama/Florida/Georgia/North and South Carolina... Stretching from Eastern Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Northern Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and up into southern North Carolina, several individual light to moderate density plumes of smoke were observed. Originating from suspected prescribed fires, wildfires, and industrial emissions, these emissions dispersed across different regions. In the region between Eastern Texas to Northern Florida, the smoke mostly blew towards the south into the Gulf of America, whereas along the East Coast, the plumes blew towards the southeast, wrapping along the edges of the Appalachian mountains. Kansas/Oklahoma/Arkansas... A large area of light smoke was observed this morning emanating from Southeastern Kansas. Originating from suspected prescribed fires, wildfires, and industrial emissions, these plumes merged to form a large mass of smoke that drifted southwards into Oklahoma and Arkansas. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central-Southern Mexico/Mexican Coastline/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America... A widespread area of light-density smoke, primarily from seasonal fires in central-southern Mexico, was observed today along the Mexican coastline. The smoke on the western coast of Mexico drifted southwest into the Pacific Ocean, while the band of smoke from the southeastern United States drifted across the eastern coast of Mexico and over the Gulf of America. Cardona THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
