SMOKE... Central Dakotas/Wyoming/Nebraska/Kansas/Iowa/Missouri/South-Central States/Gulf of America/Florida/East Coast... Two bands of light density smoke were observed this morning drifting southeastward across the central Dakotas, eastern Wyoming, western and eastern Nebraska, northern Kansas, western Iowa, and western Missouri. These smoke masses merged with a large area of light density smoke covering the south-central states and blowing southeastward into the Gulf of America. Another band was also observed drifting across central Florida and along the east coast, presumably separated by the Appalachian mountains. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central-Southern Mexico/Mexican Coastline/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America... A widespread area of light-density smoke, primarily from seasonal fires in central-southern Mexico, was observed today along the Mexican coastline. The smoke on the western coast of Mexico drifted southwest into the Pacific Ocean, while the band of smoke from the southeastern United States drifted across the eastern coast of Mexico and over the Gulf of America. Ferrante THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG map: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
