DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z April 22st, 2025
SMOKE: Northern and Central U.S/Canada... Light density smoke produced from the numerous seasonal burning in the central United States was observed extending from Kansas north through the Mid-west states and into parts of southern Ontario and Manitoba. Moderate density plumes were observed in eastern Kansas moving north into Nebraska before cloud cover precluded further analysis. Cuba... Widespread fire activity could be seen across Cuba with a few individual plumes consisting of light to moderate density smoke dispersing towards the west. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Gulf of America/Southern Texas/Pacific Ocean... An area of light to moderate density smoke and aerosols, attributed to widespread seasonal fire activity, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico remain visible over the Western Gulf of America, Central and Southern Mexico, Southern Texas, and the Pacific Ocean off Mexico’s southern coastline. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
