THROUGH 2230Z April 27th, 2025
SMOKE: Southern United States/Mexico, Central America… A large area of light density smoke continued to be observed over northern central America and Mexico this evening. The smoke spread west into the Pacific and north into Texas where it moved east along the Gulf coast. Medium plumes were seen scattered across western Mexico. SE CONUS… Due to heavy cloud activity over the SE CONUS, not many smoke plumes were observed but the few that were seen were producing large light density plumes. Florida… A few scattered fires along the western coast of FL were seen producing light density smoke plumes moving west over the Gulf. Mexico… One large fire was seen in the NE corner of the Mexican state of Sonora (near the MX-US border) and the other was seen in the SW corner of the state of Chihuahua. Both fires were producing light to heavy smoke plumes towards New Mexico and Texas. Blowing dust… Blowing dust was seen in central New Mexico, southeast from Albuquerque moving NE towards the central plains. The majority of the blowing dust seen today was coming from the northern area of the Mexican state of Chihuahua that was moving NE into the U.S. specifically New Mexico and Texas.
